ABOUT ME

I’m Laura Barajas; owner of Cakes B&G and El Cafecito Studio in Maywood, California. I'm a self taught confectionist artist, who loves to bake and create sugar art. I started when I was a kid by spending time in the kitchen with trial and error and quite honestly just never stopped!

While I used to do it for fun and as more of a hobby, when I had my third and last daughter; I decided I needed to find something more flexible to my schedule. I chose to stay at home to care for them, and eventually, now almost 13 years ago, Cakes B&G was born!

After nearly 10 years in the industry, in 2019, El Cafecito, my own cake studio/cafe was established. I now teach classes weekly to a variety of new (and experienced) bakers and sugar artists just like myself, and am working on expanding our baking community here near DTLA.
